In 2015 I part of a print exhibition at Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds called ‘Impressions’. Artists were given a tour of the old mill and asked to produce a piece for the exhibition based on things they saw. Some artists chose buildings, others created things based on product produced there or were influenced by old machinery etc. With my love of animals I was struck by how many pigeons the mill was home to. Pigeons just make me giggle to myself, I love the way they walk, their expressions, their rapid head movements. They just seemed perfect with my love of humour that I see in animals and birds and so I created my ‘Pigeon’, ‘2 Pigeon’ and ‘3 Pigeon’ drypoint etching prints originally in black and white. A set of the original prints were purchased by the mill itself and then I later went on to create these colour pigeon print versions of the original images.
