Second visit to paradise and just as wonderful as last time. I know it’s risky going back to the same people (mostly), but it’s honestly been a lovely experience. Frank, Daniela and the team do a brilliant job making you feel at home, the location is beyond compare and the printing has been such fun. Lucy takes such care with the preparation and teaching, that seems effortless and really reflects in lots of hard work.
After the trip last May 2023, I found myself thinking about ‘Paradise’ regularly and wishing I was back there, so it’s been a privilege to be able to return. It’s a unique and very special place and great inspiration for the printing.

All the printing processes were exciting and relaxing at the same time. You are a patient and informative teacher. Everything was so well organised, very impressive. You helped everybody and made the printing process so interesting. All materials provided were of good quality. The Quinta was a fabulous place to stay. I so enjoyed the peace and quiet and all the bird song was so lovely. The rooms were so clean and tidy and the staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Frank and Daniela were very good hosts. Daniela’s cooking was super and I appreciated very much her catering for my various food intolerances. All food was healthy, varied and well prepared, full marks for that.

  3. Louise McGarr

Wonderful, but had pre-conceived expectations having come last year. Wild swimming and creativity are what ‘Fill my cup’ so this holiday is tailor made for me! Coupled with great company and great food, perfect x

  4. Julie Fages

It was too short!! I really enjoyed going over the different techniques again, it was a great reminder of all that I had forgotten and some of them like the Tetra Pak I enjoyed more this time around. I’m really glad I tried the reduction linocut, I will be doing that again for sure even if Mister Kitty wasn’t perfect this time. La Quinta is as beautiful as ever. I hope I’ll get to come back one of these days and I’m looking forward to an Italian holiday with you in the years to come xxx

This has been the most wonderful holiday for both myself and Andrew. The combination of coming to the most glorious place in Portugal with being on one of Lucy’s printmaking courses has been magical. The preparation Lucy does to ensure we all get the most out of the weeks course is second to none. We were a group of mixed ability and ages and Lucy carefully managed us all each day introducing us to all kinds of fun and fascinating printing methods. She cleverly got our creative juices working getting us to think and look carefully at the fabulous surroundings we were in. We felt ourselves relax immediately we got to Quinta do Barranco where we were looked after so brilliantly by the owners Frank and Daniela. We enjoyed comfortable accommodation and delicious meals produced by Daniela and her team. We enjoyed these round a large homely table where we could discuss our days activities and printing projects.
It was a very good idea that Lucy started a WhatsApp group with everyone coming on the course. This made all the contact and communication for travel and the sharing of photographs etc very accessible. Lucy kept us organised and on track the whole time. She had bought all the supplies and equipment and we just had to bring ourselves, a sketchpad and an open mind. Everyone was thrilled with what they accomplished by the end of the week. Thank you so much Lucy for all your hard work, patience, encouragement and huge kindness.

Absolutely wonderful – My second visit and I did not expect this to improve on the first but it did – Thank you soooo much Lucy x
Lucy is…very organised, all well thought through to maximise time. Very generous with materials and knowledge and … very patient.
The surroundings, landscape, lake, birds and animals are perfect to stimulate creativity, but also to create an air of calmness, at one with nature.

  7. Andrew Kenning

My overall experience is that it has been a wonderful holiday. First and foremost our ‘teacher’ has been ‘excellent’ and nothing has been too much trouble for her. The fact that so many of the very experienced delegates have returned says everything. The WhatsApp group was very good. I have been limited by my own mobility but the opportunity to swim and boat without extra cost has been fantastic for Val.
I would emphasize that although La Quinta is remote, the WiFi is good. Eating and working together has created a great atmosphere even for a rather sullen ‘old man’. The staff, Dulce and Margareda were excellent. It was nice to have eggs for breakfast. Daniela’s cooking is also excellent, there were no surprises as the introductory email covered everything.

  8. Pat Stone

Lucy worked very hard to deliver an inspirational week of printing with a variety of techniques. All abilities are accommodated with kindness and patience. The setting is wonderful as is the food.

  9. Rachel Kochany

Great holiday with Lucy and the fab printmaking group. Beautiful venue, friendly hosts, great food, wonderful views.
    What’s not to like?

Lovely opportunity to have time and space to explore creativity – with plenty of sources of inspiration nearby. Lucy is skilled at assisting folk with their creations when needed, and is a very relaxed welcoming host to the group.

    Thanks for a great holiday!
