Wow! What an incredible experience from start to finish. It has totally exceeded my expectations in everyway. The Quinta truly is “Paradise in Portugal” and I felt instantly at home in the warm and peaceful surroundings. The lake and gardens are breathtaking and Frank and Daniela and the whole team are such friendly and attentive hosts. The food has been plentiful and out of this world and it’s been lovely to sit down and eat together as a big “Family”. The rooms are homely, comfortable and absolutely spotless.
As for the printmaking, I have been in total creative heaven! 5 techniques in 5 days has been a whirlwind of creativity, fun and learning. Lucy is a phenomenal tutor. She is so warm and fun and extremely generous with her time, expertise and materials. At every step she has guided us to clearly and attentively and is always at hand to help with any questions. Having quite little printmaking experience before the trip I was a bit apprehensive about what I’d be able to produce but I’m really pleased with the knowledge to carry on more printmaking at home, so I’m excited to where that leads.
Overall the week has been so fun and full of laughter in the most wonderful setting. Feeling a bit sad that this experience has to to end but I’ll be going home with some magical memories and some friends for life. If you’re even thinking about printmaking in Portugal just book it! You seriously won’t regret it!

From beginning to end, this holiday has been wonderful. Booking was straightforward and Lucy communicated clearly at every stage. The WhatsApp group set up a week or so in advance was helpful in introducing us to each other in the group which, a) helped identify at the airport, b) began the positive group dynamics from the start . When we met at the airport, we had already begun to gel as a group. Group dynamics were fabulous throughout the holiday and I feel we have become friends who will continue to ‘do’ art in various ways together in the future – through going to print fairs, following online etc.
Lucy is a superb teacher. She is calm, kind, sensitive to everyone in the group and shares her expertise in abundance incredibly. She enabled all of us to find our aim with each task and guided us through each process to achieve what we were aiming for. We came away with many examples of each process we learned and I’ll enjoy developing my skills with these over time.
Thank you Lucy for sharing your expertise, for all your encouragement and guidance along the way, you deserve a medal for your patience!
The Quinta was literally paradise. The setting is just idyllic, we loved the swimming each day, paddle boarding, doing yoga. We were treated to a ‘Sound Bath’ which was next level wonderful not to mention an incredible Frank and Daniela and the bird watching. We saw kingfishers! Quinta family welcomed us and made us supremely welcome. This holiday over – delivered in everyway!! What a joy! Thank you ! xx

This has been a truly magical week…
The location is stunning and so peaceful we have been fed like royalty and the atmosphere that Frank and Daniela create in their home is one of us being part of the family.
Lucy is an incredible teacher, she has encouraged us and gently guided us through a whole range of printing styles and we have each created beautiful person works of art to be proud of. She has been so generous with the amount of time she has spent teaching us and helping us produce something individual and unique.
It has been a joy to be part of such a lovely group – we have all laughed so much and shared stories over meal within less than a week, complete strangers become friends.
The garden at the Quinta has been a source of inspiration for our art too. Having the lake at the bottom of the garden has been a real luxury – we have swam and paddle boarded everyday, we have also done yoga on the platform overlooking the lake – the sound bath was an unexpected and beautiful addition to this weeks experience.
The bird watching with Frank set the tone for our week of learning and exploration – he has so much knowledge of this subject and is so willing to share this.
The week has surpassed all my expectations and is something that I will remember forever. Thank you Lucy! I have learnt so much and have much more confidence to explore different types of printmaking once I’m home. It has been a joy having Wiggles and Slim (dogs) as our companions all week, I’m going to miss them.

First impressions were good and stayed that way all week. The rooms were comfortable and had everything required for a relaxing holiday, particularly liked our little terrace and stunning views 🙂
I enjoyed the dining experience, all being together to eat was a lovely way to get to know each other better and enjoy each others stories, lol 🙂
The bird watching trip was informative and great to experience the rural quiet side of the area. Frank was knowledgeable about all this area not just the birds so you felt you could ask him anything.
The whole week has felt like living in someone else’s house rather than a hotel and I’ve not felt so chilled for a long time, so I’m very grateful for the peace. I also liked the ecological ethos at the Quinta, it proves you can still have your creative comforts whilst appreciating and supporting the wildlife and natural surroundings. A great team of people doing fabulous things, that includes you too Lucy 🙂
