Printmaking in Portugal spring 2025. Join me for a very special experience on my Printmaking In Portugal Holiday. An art and craft holiday in a truly remote lake location in the hills above Faro in Portugal. I have run this holiday multiple times now and in 2025 it will be running in both the spring and the autumn. In the autumn holiday you will see an abundance of bees and butterflies, warm days and benefit from the warm water of the lake after a hot summer. Wow! from the first moment on entering the dining room I felt I had entered into an enchanted world. Lucy made me feel so relaxed and as we started our creations it all developed so naturally. The abundance of wildlife-birds, flowers, insects (and the odd snake) meant we were emersed in a visual and natural wonderland. So many ideas for drawing or photos everywhere we looked.
The Quinta is extraordinary – honestly one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever visited. Lucy guided us gently through all the processes with such patience and made us feel ‘at home’ so quickly. So clever to balance input and demonstrations with flexibility – adjusting timings where she could so we all produced a bounty of pictures to take away. The holiday was a real experience, combing beautiful exotic surroundings, relaxation and comfort with stretching one’s creative abilities and learning new skills under a very patient and experienced teacher in a very friendly atmosphere.
We are all, without exception going home with some beautiful prints.
The rooms are all on the ground floor and have a view over the lake. They are very comfortable and have own veranda. The food is amazing, so tasty and plentiful and home cooked.
The printing course covers various techniques in detail so we are able to continue at home if wished. Taking up much of the day we were able to have a trip out to gain inspiration from the countryside and the wonderful wild flowers which we could gather to use in the printing.
Wondering down to the lake in the late afternoon to swim or canoe relaxed us for the next session of stimulating learning and creativity. Printing outdoors in the fresh air is a delight. Can’t wait to come back next year.

This is the third consecutive year that I have attended this trip, so in many ways my action speak louder than words! The content and location ticks all the boxes for me. Never have I holidayed in such a magical location; as I write this my neighbouring swallow is singing his little heart out! Our hosts complete the experience – as unique as the setting! Lucy has become a friend and I look forward to hanging out with my printing buddy every year! Looking out on that lake every morning when you open the curtains is something special, and for me, the chance to swim every day completes the filling of my cup – it’s as if it was designed just for me. I feel blessed to have been to paradise and look forward to returning next year 😉
