Printmaking art holiday in Tuscany 2025. Join me for a very special experience on my Printmaking In Tuscany Holiday. An art and craft holiday set in the lovely medieval town of Barga in Tuscany, Italy.
Our Art Holiday Location
Barga is a small traditional hilltop town. It has medieval narrow streets and fantastic mountain scenery. Barga is featured in various guides as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy and therefore provides lots of inspiration for art holidays. The town offers a number of restaurants, independent shops, supermarket, post office, cafes and bars. There are good day trip opportunities to Florence, Lucca and Pietrasanta (a special destination for those interested in sculpture).
We will be based at Quattro Archi in the old town part of Barga. This northern area of Tuscany is more mountainous than the south and the position of Barga on the side of the valley provides a spectacular setting with some wonderful views and memorable sunsets. There is a large private terrace which is the centre of attention for most people because of it’s wonderful views over the town and surrounding countryside.
What's Included
Inspiration for art surrounds Quattro Archi – the building is purposely designed to inspire creativity in a truely relaxing and stunning location. The week will include 5 sessions of printmaking. There will also be an opportunity to exhibit your work in an intimate professional gallery environment at the end of the week if you would like to.
We will be going in September so that the weather we still be warm but not as hot as the middle of the summer and you can avoid the school holidays and access cheaper flights. Checkout some of the lovely reviews from previous guests on on some of my other printmaking holidays and workshops.

I’ve been on the Portugal course a couple of times and, whilst that is an unforgettable location, I fancied something different. Barga is the perfect combination of a quaint non-touristy village, inspirational scenery and a fantastic studio. I’ve really enjoyed the place. Lots of cultural activities too – galleries, lovely churches, hearing the bell ringing – plus lovely food and good wine. Lucy has put together a perfect course in a perfect location! I really liked the self-catering lunches combined with going out to eat in the evenings as a group.

We have had the most wonderful week in Barga. What an incredible place to come for both a fabulous holiday and brilliant course with Lucy. Quattro Archi with its studio and gallery was very comfortable and the perfect place to stay (with absolutely everything at hand) – whilst being incredibly well looked after by the owners Michael and Jane.
Lucy couldn’t have done more to have made our weeks printing course more rewarding and enjoyable. She caters for all abilities so cleverly and her knowledge and instruction is second to none. Lucy approaches everything with great professionalism – guiding you carefully to help you find your own creativity – even if you are a complete beginner. This is Andrew and my second printing holiday with Lucy, and all being well we’d like to come yet again! We have always enjoyed and got on well with the groups of people we have been with. I have just enjoyed our second printing holiday arranged by our excellent printing teacher, Lucy Gell, where we practiced different types of printing. The Quattro Archi studio, which has accommodation was an excellent venue with great facilities and a lovely terrace. The proprietors, Michael and Jane Richardson ensured we had our entertainment with visits to the neighboring cathedral, including a climb up to the bell tower to see and hear the bellringers – a highlight of the holiday for me. Michael, Jane and Lucy also arranged a welcome dinner and visits to galleries. I enjoyed working with and socializing with the other people on the course. I will definitely be enthusiastic to come on a third printing holiday, if my health improves. Thank you Lucy.

Overall the holiday was great, and memorable. As a floating spouse I was planning to spend at least a couple of days taking trips, but I became too involved with printmaking to even think about it. The location would be hard to improve upon and the other course participants were all delightful. Hugely enjoyable.

I’ve had a great and very memorable week – more than I expected. Lovely place, great hosts in Jane and Michael and a very nice group. The tuition and encouragement were excellent and it was nice to have the exhibition on the final evening. I also enjoyed the ‘extras’ – Michael’s talk at the church etc.
